Welcome to the heart of Mattagami First Nation’s organizational prowess—the Administration Department. Our administration team serves as the backbone of the community, tirelessly supporting the day-to-day operations and ensuring the implementation of the directives set forth by Chief and Council.
What we do
Our administrative staff prepares and distributes agendas, minutes, notices, andannouncements, ensuring transparent and efficient communication within the community. Beyond that, they coordinate events and respond to inquiries from community members and external partners.

Ensure open and transparent communication through meticulous preparation and distribution of agendas, minutes, notices, and announcements.
2. Governance Capacity:
Empower staff through training programs and continuous development initiatives.
3. External Relationships:
Actively engage with external governments and organizations to foster beneficial partnerships for the broader community development.
4. Clear and Regular Communications:
Prioritize maintaining clear and regular communication with the community through events, announcements, and ongoing dialogue to keep everyone informed about important developments and initiatives.
Communication
Within Administration, the Communication sector serves as the central hub for managing online platforms, ensuring effective outreach, and fostering community engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Digital Presence Management:
Overseeing and curating content on social media platforms, including Facebook.
2. MFN App Administration:
Managing the newly developed Mattagami First Nation app, the Communication Department ensures its functionality, user-friendliness, and relevance.
3. Website Oversight:
Maintaining and updating the Mattagami First Nation website, the Communication Department ensures that it remains an informative and accessible resource for community members and external audiences.
Governance
Executive Director
As the pivotal liaison between Chief and Council and all Government staff, the Executive Director plays a vital role in shaping the manner and achievements of Mattagami First Nation.

1. Implementation of Community Plans

3. Policy Development and Maintenance
4. Timely Administrative Reporting

Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) Application
Your status card is a crucial government document, ensuring eligibility for various government benefits, rights, programs, and services provided by federal, provincial, or territorial governments.
The application process for a Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) has been simplified with the introduction of a new photo app. Launched by Indigenous Services Canada on July 9, 2019, this app allows applicants to easily take and submit photos using their smartphones.
To initiate the application process, please schedule an appointment at the MFN band office. Embrace this user-friendly approach to obtaining your Secure Certificate of Indian Status!
